Jeff’s professional background includes providing technical assistance on business, finance, real estate, and sustainable development for communities striving to sustainably upgrade their operations, properties, and/or facilities.

Jeff has devoted much of his career to working with homeowners and small businesses, and he has developed a deep understanding of the diverse challenges that freelancers, entrepreneurs, and business owners face on a daily basis. Over the years, he developed a network and reputation as a community organizer through coordinating workshops, participating in panels, and promoting sustainable (re)development, alternative financing, and local enterprise.  Furthermore, he serves on a number of nonprofit boards and committees including; US Green Building Council - Redwood Empire Chapter, The Sonoma Mendocino Economic Development District, The LIME Foundation, Sustainable North Bay, ROC-Sonoma, and Farmster.

Jeff’s ADU Story

Jeff first became interested in ADUs with changes in CA State Legislation in 2017. At that time, he converted his godfather’s garage into a passive solar studio because (a) it was a mutually beneficial way to save money while launching a nonprofit, and (b) he preferred supporting the equity and finances of family and friends.   The initial plan was to create a short-term place of his own - something that could be done relatively quickly and affordably with a payback of less than 4 years.  Then, he realized it would become a retirement plan for his godfather as he reaches retirement age, and it could be designed in a way that would allow him to age in place and have in home care. Since then, he has consulted with dozens of property owners navigating the process of planning, financing, building, and managing Accessory Dwelling Units.
